The lodge was founded by a group of railway workers, mostly drivers. Hence it seemed natural to name it the Locomotive Lodge.
In those days, March was known as a railway town with a large marshalling yard and repair workshops. It is conveniently located on the main line between Peterborough and the East Coast.
The lodge was founded on 17 September 1925 so the year 2010 will mark its 85th anniversary. Three founding members named on the Dispensation are Bros H.W.Foster, G.W.Green and James Phillips.
